Nicholson brands Kingsmills chief suspect "one of the most prolific serial killers in British criminal history"

Newry and Armagh Westminster election candidate Cllr Sam Nicholson has described the chief suspect in the Kingsmills massacre as one of the most prolific serial killers in British criminal history following last weeks continuing Kingsmills inquest.

Commenting on the revelations Mr Nicholson said “The inquest into the Kingmills massacre has provided a reminder on an almost daily basis of what this country endured during the Troubles at the hands of terrorists.

“The revelation that the chief suspect in the murder of ten Protestant workmen was linked to 46 murders between 1974 and 1976 alone is simply staggering. This individual is undoubtedly one of the most prolific serial killers in British criminal history and demonstrates the barbarity of the Provisional IRA.  

“Many in the community will also be asking the question as to whether or not this person was given a so-called letter of comfort from the Blair Government.   

“There has been a great deal of publicity and debate over legacy cases and dealing with the past. If ever a case should be fast-tracked to the head of a queue, it should surely be that of a person suspected of involvement in 46 murders in a two-year period.”
