Write a commentSDLP Crotlieve Councillor and Deputy Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Gillian Fitzpatrick has said she is disappointed that there is no funding available for a Pedestrian Crossing in Mayobridge.
Ms Fitzpatrick said “For some time now I have been lobbying Transport NI (Roads Service) for a pedestrian crossing at Saint Anne’s Park but I have been informed that it will not happen in this current financial year as all funding is fully committed. There is a real need for a safe crossing route to be established at this area so I will continue to lobby and keep this item high on the agenda.”
Ms Fitzpatrick added “I am also working with the Principle of Saint Patricks Primary Mrs Ryan, the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Transport NI to introduce Flashing School signs on the Newry Road, Mayobridge that will ensure drivers are aware of children crossing the busy road on their way to and from school. I am pleased that Transport NI recognises the need for such signage to be erected in the area and I hope that funding can allocated in the near future.
