Norbrook’s WeCare Christmas programme has become an annual tradition, providing support to families and individuals in the Newry area.
This year, 450 Norbrook employees contributed 2,400 hours to assist with fundraising and community activities. These included organising events and volunteering to help those in need. Established in 2019 as a food and toy donation campaign, the WeCare programme has grown into a larger effort to support the local community during the Christmas period.
Last year, the programme received the ‘Impact in your Community Award’ at the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards, recognising its positive contribution to the area.
Norbrook’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrea Iucci, commented: “We’re so proud to see how our WeCare Christmas initiative continues to grow each year. It reflects the true generosity and dedication of each Norbrook employee, and we’re humbled to be able to bring so much joy to our community during the holiday season.”
The programme supported over 1,000 families with food and toy hampers this year. Additionally, 1,250 meals were delivered to vulnerable groups, offering both nourishment and connection.
Other events saw 240 senior citizens provided with a Christmas lunch and 500 toy donations to Children in the area.
Employees raised £500 through festive fundraising events. Over 200 families visited Santa’s Grotto, where a Norbrook-designed sleigh was a highlight.
Fifty employees also volunteered to decorate the reception and gardens of the Southern Area Hospice and Rathore School, contributing to the festive atmosphere.
Norbrook’s partnerships with local organisations, including Bolster, SureStart Newry, Kilkeel Development Association, and the Outreach and Rural Health Partnership, ensured the programme reached those most in need.
The WeCare Christmas programme demonstrates Norbrook’s commitment to supporting the community and making a positive impact.
