Write a commentThe Brain Injury Foundation has launched a new calendar to help raise much-needed funds.
“OUR PLACE” has been designed for the charity by Dionne McCabe of Cranny McCabe Graphic Designers from Cornmarket in Newry.
The calendar features 12 scenes of beautiful locations across the Council area and provides ample space to record all those important dates and appointments and includes advertisements by many leading local businesses.
Speaking at the launch Frank Dolaghan, Chair of BIF, said “ When we opened our new centre it was named Our House by one of our brain injury survivors so when we came to design a calendar it seemed fairly logical to call it “Our Place” as it features local scenes across the district we serve.
"The calendar is designed to help raise funds but it is also a statement about the challenges faced by brain injury survivors. A calendar helps us remember important dates, it helps us plan ahead and it helps us to organise our lives. These skills of memory, planning and organising are often badly impaired after an acquired brain injury and much of our work is aimed at helping survivors face these challenges on a daily basis."
Mr Dolaghan thanked Space and Place for their support for the project, and acknowledged those advertisers who supported the project and their designer Dionne McCabe.
The calendar was launched by Mayor Gillian Fitzpatrick and was attended by a number of other local political representatives. The Mayor said” I wish to congratulate the Brain Injury Foundation on the fantastic work they do in Our House and to wish them well with this new venture. The calendar is beautiful and would make an ideal gift to send to friends abroad. I would encourage as many people as possible to buy it.”
Calendars can be bought at £5 per copy (5 for £20) from the BIF Office in Camlough or through their facebook page and website.
