A fundraising effort by a Kilkeel family has raised over £40k for Air Ambulance NI in memory of their eleven year old son and brother who died in a road traffic collision in the town in February 2026.
A family member explained: "Air Ambulance NI were with John within 16 minutes when we needed them most, so this charity means an enormous amount to our family."
John’s Tractor & Truck Run which took place in Kilkeel on 1 August, together with other fundraising efforts, were carried out in memory of beloved baby brother and son John Doole with a total of £40,207.21 raised for the charity.
The event organised through Mourne Vintage Club saw almost 300 registered tractors and trucks, with many hundreds more people attending to show their support. As well as the Tractor and Truck Run organisers held raffles and a street collection which together with donations received via their JustGiving page led to the massive sum raised.
The Cousins/ Killen family hope to make the run an annual event.
