The PIPS Newry & Mourne, ( Public Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide and Self-harm) Newry City Perimeter Walk, is held annually as a collective approach to mark World Suicide Prevention Day 10th September.
This year, they are involved in a community led approach where we envisage that individuals, community, statutory and voluntary groups will come from across Newry & Mourne and beyond to join in their annual ‘Walk’ and support the ethos of World Suicide Prevention Day.
The Walk this year for those bereaved and their supporters will commence at Newry Town Hall at 1pm will then proceed up Monaghan Street, Patrick Street, Dominic Street, Bridge Street back by way of the Quays via: Front of the Buttercrane past the Canal Court Hotel and finishing back at the Town Hall approx 45 mins, where Balloons will be released to remember those in our community that have died by suicide,
The Walk will be led by the Mayor of Newry Mick Murphy.
We need all of our respective communities to support World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th September We all need to focus our attention on the unacceptable burden of suicidal deaths within our communities. Please join us and reach out to those in our community that need our support
