An application has been made for planning permission for a new Warrenpoint Community Centre. The application put forward by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is for the development of new 2-Storey community facility building at Clonallon Park. The facility will include a multi-functional space, multiple meeting rooms, activity rooms, a multi-use hall, changing facilities, bin stores and a café.
The proposal will also see outdoor space including a children’s terrace, hard and soft landscaped areas, street furniture, cycle parking, car parking, external lighting and new pathways connecting to the existing pedestrian network.
The existing play park will be replaced with a 'health and wellbeing garden'. Vehicular access to the site and bowling club will be retained off Clonallon Road.
The Proposed Development seeks to create a high-quality community facility that meets the needs of the local community, and which is accessible to all.
It is hoped that the development will commence in 2024 and it should take around 13 months to build.
