Write a commentPolice are appealing for information following a spate of burglaries in the south Armagh area the first weekend in October (5th October- 6thOctober 2019).
Detective Sergeant Johnston said: “At around 7pm on Saturday 5th October, it was reported that four men arrived in a silver coloured Audi car and gained entry to a property in the West End area of Bessbrook. It was reported the property was ransacked during the incident and a quantity of money and jewellery was taken.
“Sometime between 7:15pm on Saturday 5th October and shortly after 1:55am on Sunday 6th October, it was reported that entry was gained to a property in the Monog Road area of Crossmaglen. It is believed that a quantity of jewellery and a sum of money was taken during the incident. Entry was also gained to a property in the Dundalk Road area of Crossmaglen area sometime between 2:30pm on Friday 4th October and 2:40pm on Sunday 6th October. It was reported the property was ransacked during the incident and a quantity of jewellery and money was taken.
“We are also investigating a report of entry gained to a property in the Camlough Road area of Camlough sometime between 4pm on Saturday 5thOctober and shortly after 12:10pm on Sunday 6th October. It was reported the property was ransacked during the incident and a quantity of jewellery was taken.
“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are investigating a link between these incidents.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of any of these incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1494 5/10/19. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed a silver coloured Audi car acting suspiciously in the south Armagh area, which we believe is linked to this investigation.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
