Health Minister Edwin Poots has congratulated the Southern Area Hospice in Newry, on winning the Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility Awards.
Speaking at the presentation of the 2013 Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility Awards, the Health Minister said: “I extend my warmest congratulations to all the winners in this year’s Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility Awards. They are to be commended for their commitment to the enhancement of indoor and outdoor environments.
“These awards acknowledge the dedication of health and social care teams, along with their clients, in their joint efforts to create outstanding spaces of which they can be rightly proud. Well kept surroundings undoubtedly make a difference to the well-being of the people who use them, and that is very important in a health and social care setting.
“Well done to the Southern Area Hospice for winning the overall prize this year. It is a wonderful achievement for a truly remarkable place and is testament to their commitment to the health and well-being of both service users and staff.”
The prestigious awards are organised annually by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC) who recognise facilities that are maintained to the highest environmental standard. The Southern Area Hospice was named the ‘Best of the Best’ out of a shortlist of ten facilities from across each of the five Health Trust regions. NIAC judges commended the hospice for taking ‘every opportunity to create and enhance a truly wonderful environment for patients, staff and relatives'.
