The store on Chapel Street, Poyntzpass has become a hub for the community, providing daily essentials as well as the best in fresh, local produce on the shelves.
Families were able to get photos with Super Mario, with kids enjoying face painting and balloon modelling throughout the day.
Corinna Trainor, store owner said: “This past year has been fantastic. We have seen the full support of the community since we opened our doors, so we wanted to do something to give back and thank them for shopping with us. Community is very important, especially with SPAR, so we’re delighted to be able to have this fun day for our friends and shoppers.”
The store has also been fundraising for a AED, an Automatic External Defibrillator, which they have been raising money for with the community. Throughout the year, they have had buckets at the tills, which generous shoppers have been contributing to, and there were further chances to donate during the fun day.
Corinna continued: “It was an easy decision to be part of the Henderson Group’s Heart of our Community campaign to install over 300 defibrillators outside of stores in Northern Ireland. We will have our defibrillator installed very soon thanks to our generous customers, and will be providing a potentially lifesaving device for all in our community to be able to avail of, should the need arise.”
The SPAR Poyntzpass store will get the device installed once £1,500 has been raised for the defibrillator, a temperature controlled cabinet and the installation of the device.
SPAR Poyntzpass supports local producers, stocking SPAR own brand enjoy local, The Kitchen and brands including Greenmount & Fred Eliot Butchers, Shelbourne & Windsor home bakery, as well as their own Deli in store.
