An enthusiastic group of walkers have set off this morning, 30 June from Croke Park, Dublin to walk the 71ish miles to Poyntzpass. The 'HQ to Home' walk will raise money for charities Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, St. Joseph & St James Primary School and Redmond O'Hanlons. Already the group has raised £5000 via their Go-Fund me page and others have donated in other ways.
Croke Park treated the walkers to breakfast this morning before they set off and Dublin footballer Paul Croft, of Get Fresh Super Foods has supplied the group with fresh fruit for their dander.
The walkers plan to complete the journey in three days. Today they walk to Drogheda, tomorrow to the Carrickdale and on Sunday from Carrickdale to O'Hanlon's GAC grounds in Poyntzpass. Members of the public are welcome to join the walkers on the last leg from the Carrickdale on Sunday. Just be at the Carrickdale at 7.45am for 8am departure and wear a high vis vest.
O'Hanlon's GAC are hosting a homecoming on Sunday from 1.30pm to 4pm with lazer tag, penalty kick competiton, facepainting and much more.
