Friday night's Pride in Newry Concert in the Canal Court Hotel was a resounding success with a diverse selection of acts on stage and an even more diverse audience.

The mix of talent on show would not have been seen anywhere else in the country. After the Cuchulainn Dancers danced several sets it was time for the Burlesque Belles and Cara Finnegan who certainly upped the heat in the Canal Court.

Singer Helen Corr then took control and chilled the whole thing out again with a beautiful rendition of In the Arms of an Angel and then a locally based Bulgarian band and dancer showed off some of the musical and dancing traditions from their country with several very catchy tunes.

Mayor Charlie Casey congratulates Trisha Delisha and Damian McKevitt, Newry Rainbow Community on their group's Pride in Newry Concert on Friday night. Photo: Columba O'HareThe landscape changed completely with the arrival of Drag Acts, Rusty Hinges and Roxy Tumbledryer who kept the audience literally on the edge of their seats (In case they had to make a swift getaway!!!)

Rostrevor singer Shane Morgan then came on stage and blew the crowd away with songs from his Album "I am Yours" which was released at Fiddlers Green Folk Festival today.

Then it was Newry's own Ink complete with Brendan McGreevy who came on song and the night was wrapped up by Paul Burns who gave a crash course in Zumba Dancing for any members of the audience who were willing to display their skills, and what skills they were - A perfect ending to a perfect night.

It couldn't have happened without the assistance of the Newry and Mourne Council, PSNI and Awards for all so praise where praise is due. The NRC would like to thank all at the Canal Court and to the lighting people A-Tek Design for their extremely professional job.

Lastly thanks to the handful of people within the NRC who did the "Impossible" task of producing a top notch concert in the space of about Two weeks!
