Write a commentProfessor Kurt Huebner, The Canadian academic behind the recent study which showed a reunified Ireland could benefit people here to the tune of €36billion will visit Newry this Friday for a breakfast event.
Professor Huebner of Vancouver University will be in the city on Friday, October 7th, as part of a tour of the country in which he will be presenting his findings to politicians, community groups, cross border agencies and businesses right across Ireland.
His peer reviewed paper, Modeling Irish Unification, has added to a growing body of academic work pointing to the substantial economic benefits of Irish reunification.His research concluded that Irish unity could benefit the Irish economy by €35.6 billion over the first 8 years.
His Newry presentation will take the form of a breakfast briefing in Bellini's at 8.30am this Friday, 7 October.
He will be joined by MLA Conor Murphy, who chairs the Economy Committee, and Executive Office Junior Minister Megan Fearon.
