From next Thursday the 18th of April as part of Newry Style City 2013, Newry will be indulging in a highly anticipated four days of fabulous events right across the city showcasing the latest trends in fashion, hair, make up and beauty for spring/summer 2013. As well as this there are several fringe events on around the city starting from tomorrow (Saturday).
Dedicated followers of fashion and style sirens alike will have a field day with fashionable events right across the city from Thursday through to Sunday. The photo-shoots are complete, the venues are ready and the shops are just bursting at the seams, now all we need is you. With a series of free and ticketed events catering for all tastes and styles there is something for everyone. There are still opportunities for local retailers, hairdressers, beauticians and other services to get involved by contacting Newry Chamber.
This year Style City are working in partnership with Southern Regional College and indeed working in conjunction with sponsors Buttercrane Shopping Centre, The Quays Shopping Centre, Newry & Mourne District Council, Newry City Centre Management and retailers including Jack Murphy Jewellers, Cahill Brothers, Berling, Silk, JV Kelly Menswear, MacAdorey Opticians, Elite Hats and online fashion hub Sugahfix and in kind sponsors from local suppliers including, Impact Sales Solutions, All3Studio, Bellini’s, The Canal Court Hotel, The Bank, Stakeholder Group and Michael McCaul Signs.

SATURDAY 13TH APRIL
Buttercrane kicks off Newry Style City's fringe events programme on Sat 13th with the Buttercrane Wedding Fayre. Models and Exhibitors displaying all you will need for that special day and the best of Spring Summer 2013 fashion from a range of Buttercrane Stores between 1.00pm and 4.00 pm.
Face of Buttercrane 2013: Our professional model spotter will be in Buttercrane Shopping Centre on Saturday 23rd and Saturday 30th March on the look out for our FACE of 2013. The lucky winner will be crowned Miss Buttercrane at our final Newry Style City event on Saturday 20th April and as well as a monetary prize will feature in Buttercrane photo shoots and fashion shows throughout 2013.
Buttercrane Street Style : Buttercrane shoppers are stylist dressers and we want to select the one with the best "Street Style". On Saturday 13th April our spotters will be out and about to see who is looking cool, hip and trendy. The finalists photos will be posted onto our Facebook Page and the winner will be whoever receives the most popular votes by Friday 19th April. The winner will be announced at Buttercrane's Beautiful Style Day on Saturday 20th April and will received a £100 Buttercrane Gift Card and a selection of goodies.
WEDNESDAY 17TH APRIL
McEvoys Fashion Show:
McEvoys’s Drapery Monaghan Street will host a fashion show in the store on Wednesday 17th April. The fashion show will feature some of the Spring Summer 2013 collection – The show will start at 7.30pm Sharp Pay at the Door - £3 Proceeds in aid of charity
THURSDAY 18TH APRIL- OFFICIAL OPENING
Jack Murphy Jewellers will be hosting ‘Diamonds and Daquiris’ at their Hill Street Diamond House. The event will start at 6.00pm -8.00pm with many prizes to be won. The event is Free
‘The St John Bosco Golden Jubilee Fashion Show’ takes place in Bellini’s on Thursday night 18th April. The Fashion Show will feature fashions by Berling, New Look, Butterflyz and Angelz, Marks & Spencers, Quiz, Dunnes Stores, O’Neill’s, Millinery by Mairead and Louis Boyds. Hair by Peter Marks and Beauty by beauty by Belleza Salon Monaghan Street - Door open at 8pm. This is a ticketed event with tickets priced at Adults £5 & Children £3 available from St John Bosco and Pay at the Door.
FRIDAY 19TH APRIL:
Southern Regional College Featuring Marietta Doran Style Secrets – hosted in Bellini’s - Tips on how to dress for different occasions, work wear, smart casual and occasion wear.
This will involve Marietta using 3 models and clothing from local boutiques showing tips on how to maximise your style and how to dress appropriately for different occasions.
Tickets are priced at £5 for the Public and £3 for Students will be available from Southern Regional College or by contacting the ticket office at Newry Chamber. There will also be the opportunity to pay at the door. The event will run from 12.30pm -2.00pm.
Southern Regional College Masterclass Featuring Marietta Doran's Master Class Enhancing Sales and improving service through customer styling hosted in Bellini’s from 3.00pm -4.30pm.
This will involve Marietta using 3 models and clothing from local boutiques to show retailers how to improve sales and provide an extra level of customer service by customer styling
This event will be FREE for retailers and Invitations will be sent out to retailers.
The return of the much loved Newry Style Awards with the fabulous Connor Philips from Cool FM hosting the annual Newry Style Awards in The Bank Bar on Friday 19th April. The most stylish people in Newry will walk away with a host of amazing prizes. Entry forms for the Style Awards are now available by contacting the Style City team via Facebook or the Website.
SATURDAY 20TH APRIL
Swim and Sleep Wear by Azizi Lingerie Fashion Event featuring some of the latest swimwear and sleep collection at the Azizi Lingerie Store, Kildare Street, Newry from 10.30 – 12.00 noon. This event is Free.
Quaystyle Fashion Event
The Quays Shopping and Leisure Centre hosts Fashion Shows continuously showcasing what the centre has to offer, Style tips, competitions and much more. This Event is Free and will be from 1.00pm -4.00pm.
Buttercrane Beautiful Style Day
Get beauty tips, advice, samples and makeovers from a range of exhibitors and view the best of Spring Summer 2013 fashion from a range of Buttercrane Stores. This Event is free and will run from 1.00pm -4.00pm.
SUNDAY 21ST APRIL
Afternoon Tea at the Canal Court
The weekend will close with stunning, professional fashion afternoon tea show in The Canal Court Hotel on Sunday 21st April from 3.00pm -5.00pm and will feature Berling, Silk, JV Kelly Menswear, Elite Hats, Cahill Brothers Shoes, McAdorey Opticians and Jack Murphy Jewellers. Guests will receive afternoon tea & goody bags along with a drinks reception. Tickets are priced at £15 and available at The Canal Court or by contacting the ticket office at Newry Chamber. There may also be limited opportunity to pay at the door.
