Remembrance Mass to be held for Newry born Dominican priest

The death has taken place in Tralee Co Kerry of Newry born Dominican priest Fr. John O Rourke.  Fr O Rourke, who attended the Abbey CBS before joining the order was ordained in 1965 and was Prior in the Newry Dominican church for ten  years  from the early seventies during the  worst of the Troubles.

He was stationed in Tralee for well over thirty years and the Dominican church there was packed to overflowing for his requiem Mass last week.

Fr O Rourke was renowned for his outstanding outreach to the people throughout his long life as a priest notably to those in most need.
