Write a commentA new charity is being set up in Rostrevor that aims to provide end of life care in their own home for the people of Warrenpoint, Rostrevor and Burren.
The organisation called Life & Time are holding a public consultation this Sunday 16 July at 7.30pm in St Bronagh’s Social Club, Mary Street, Rostrevor and all are welcome to attend and find out more about the initiative.
Speaking on the aims of Life & Time, Dr Henry McLaughlin said “We would like to fill what we think is a gap in services by providing a community based nurse or doctor who will be available from 11pm to 8am to rapidly respond to the need for symptom control of those in the last weeks or days of life.”
Money raised by the charity would fund a locally based responsive service to fill any gaps in services. They stress that they have no desire to replace or displace any existing service.
It is thought that if this is successful other communities could follow the model.
