SDLP's McNulty Seeks Re-Election

Justin McNulty, MLA for Newry and Armagh is to seek re-election to the Assembly on Thursday 2nd March.

Commenting the current MLA said, ‘It is a tremendous honour to once again seek election to the Assembly to represent the people of Newry and Armagh. Our political institutions have been plunged into a crisis not of the SDLP’s making. That given, we are only too happy to go before the electorate again and seek their support to bring forward solutions in an atmosphere of collaboration for the greater good.’

In the time I have been at the Assembly, I have been a strong voice on the issues which matter to people locally and I’m asking the people of Newry and Armagh to give me the opportunity to do so again.’

‘The Assembly has been plunged into controversy again, with corruption, cronyism and incompetence at the heart of the Executive and government. This is not how it was supposed to be. The people need an Executive which can work together, that delivers for everyone and that’s accountable to the public.’

‘At a time when Brexit threatens massive economic, social, cultural and political challenges we need a Government and an Assembly that seeks to protect all of our interests. This is the message I and my SDLP Colleagues across the north will be bringing to the door steps in weeks running up to the 2nd March.’

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MLA added, “In only a few months as an MLA Justin has proven himself a tireless representative for the people of Newry and Armagh and a dedicated member of the SDLP’s Assembly team. He has distinguished himself on the campaigns to improve broadband and rail services for his constituency and has been steadfast in defending his border county from the Hard Brexit being pursued by Theresa May. I have no doubt that the people of Newry and Armagh will recognise the contribution he has made in this short time and will return him as their MLA.”
