A reader living in England is still trying to find out some information about his father and grandfather who lived in Newry has sent us a photograph of his father Tommie Sheridan taken around 1959. We published an article in October but no leads were generated.
Thomas James Sheridan lived in Newry around 1930-1950 and his grandson Glyn believes he was a shopkeeper. He is unsure whether it was Market Street, Market Place, Market Square or even the still existing Margaret Square where he lived.
Glyn's Grandfather fostered his father, also called Thomas James, and gave him his own surname.
Glyn explains "My father, Tommie Sheridan, was born in July 1934. What his original birthname is I don't know, but I'd really be interested to hear about the family that took him in."
Tommie left for England in the mid-1950s settling in the West Midlands. He died in 2019.
If you can throw any light on the Sheridans and even narrow down where they were from or have any information that would help, it would be most appreciated. You can comment below or contact Glyn at SHERIDANSNEWRY@AOL.COM
