PIPS Hope and Support, is calling on residents to participate in Darkness Into Light, an annual awareness and fundraising event organised by Pieta House, area committees, and local charities to support those affected by suicide, self-harm and crisis.
Darkness Into Light is a global event that occurs at sunrise, symbolising the journey from darkness and despair into the light of hope and healing. The event raises essential funds for suicide prevention services and helps to raise awareness about mental health issues, with PIPS Hope and Support being the partner charity for venues across County Armagh.
The suicide prevention charity is urging individuals, families, and communities to join them in participating in Darkness Into Light on May 11th, 2024. Venues for PIPS Hope and Support include Bessbrook/Camlough (Derrymore Woods), Crossmaglen (Cross Square), Armagh (Navan Fort & Centre) and Lurgan Park.
By registering for the event, participants can demonstrate their support for those facing mental health challenges and help combat the stigma surrounding suicide and self-harm.
"We are pleased to host and benefit from Darkness Into Light, which not only provides us with the financial support to deliver our vital services for individuals in crisis or bereaved by suicide but also allows our community to unite in the battle against suicide," said Padraig Harte, Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications Manager of PIPS Hope and Support. "By coming together as a community to stand and walk in solidarity, we can truly make a difference in the lives of those struggling with their mental health.” Padraig concluded, “We would love to see you all on the morning come out and join us for a morning of hope, healing, and reflection. It is a special morning for everyone who attends”.
Padraig heartily expressed, "We cordially invite you all to join us in the morning for a meaningful experience of hope, healing, and reflection." Participants have the option to walk a 5km route at sunrise or participate virtually from their location.
