Representatives from Sinn Féin are holding a meeting with the Southern Trust tomorrow, 24 May, to discuss recent challenges at Daisy Hill Hospital which have seen several medical personnel leave without being replaced to date.
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady is one of those who will be in attendence and he emphasised how the Trust need to ensure that staffing levels are maintained and he called for the Assembly Executive to be restored.
"Conor Murphy MLA, Liz Kimmins MLA and I will be meeting the Southern Trust tomorrow to discuss the recent exit of a number of staff members.
“We requested this meeting to discuss what has caused these issues and to see what the Trust is doing to recruit replacements as soon as possible.
“We acknowledge the real challenges to both recruit and retain staff as a result of 12 years of tory cuts, however, the Trust must ensure that staffing levels are maintained to a proper level to ensure doctors can treat patients safely and with confidence."
