Skypark Carlingford is set to host a dedicated autism-friendly family morning to mark World Autism Day this Thursday, 2 April 2026, with reduced capacity, quiet areas and a mobile sensory van among the measures being put in place for the occasion.
The adventure park, which is among the largest outdoor facilities of its kind in Ireland, says the event has been developed following positive engagement with a group supporting families with autism during its recent Adventure Lights winter event. The dedicated morning session runs from 10:00am to 12:00pm, though families are welcome to remain in the park for as long as they wish after that.
Ciara Cunningham, Head of Sales and Marketing at Skypark, said: "We felt we could offer families a great day out together. Skypark is a fantastic option as it has something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. We are delighted to partner with Senco Sensory Solutions to provide a mobile sensory van, offering a safe and calming space for families within the park."
During the special morning hours, capacity will be reduced to keep queuing to a minimum, staffing levels will be increased, and designated quiet areas will be available throughout the park for breaks and relaxation. Staff have also received guidance to better support families with additional needs during their visit, and noise levels will be kept low throughout.
All park activities will be open on the day, including aerial courses for both younger children and older visitors, zip lines, mini golf, footgolf, frisbee disc golf, Bounce World, Aeroball, the Skypark Express Train and the Ireland's Ancient East Maze. As part of the Easter period, families can also take part in an Easter Passport Scavenger Hunt, collecting stamps across the park and completing their adventure passport in exchange for a small treat.
Families interested in attending are encouraged to contact Skypark in advance as a special rate is available for the World Autism Day event.
