Write a commentSouthern Organisation for Action in Rural Areas (SOAR) is delighted to launch the Summer 2014 version of our Newsletter. The informative full colour newsletter ‘SOAR News’ will help keep local communities up-to-date on the allocation of SOAR’s £16.7m funding in rural communities featuring projects that have received funding under the various measures of the programme.
It’s been a busy period since our last edition and we have been delighted with the success of our programme to date. SOAR’s funding is continuing to support rural businesses and communities to grow, employ new people, create new business, stimulate community activity and invest in new technologies all playing a part in boosting our rural economic sustainability.
To date over 260 projects including farmers, businesses and rural tourist providers across the rural areas of Armagh, Craigavon and Newry & Mourne have secured vital funding invested to help develop local services within the heart of their own area, helping to create over 140 new rural jobs.
Mr Miceal McCoy, Chairman of the SOAR Local Action Group, commented: “This funding represents a real opportunity to develop our vibrant rural communities, create jobs and bring much needed investment to the Farming and rural Private Sector, Community, Social Economy and local councils. It has helped make a real difference to the lives of rural residents throughout the area and has encouraged innovative approaches to the delivery of rural services”.
Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 (NIRDP) administered by SOAR is fully committed however we look forward to the roll out of the new Rural Programme in the New Year.
