Write a commentPupils from St Patrick’s Primary School in Mayobridge will certainly look a lot brighter now thanks to Specsavers in Newry donating 50 high visibility vests to the school.
P2 pupil Calum Donlan entered a colouring competition to win high vis vests for him and his class as part of Specsavers’ sponsorship of Road Safety Week.
Road Safety Week takes place this year from 23rd – 29th November and is in place to encourage grassroots action on road safety and raise awareness about the part everyone can all play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer.
Donna Magee from Specsavers Newry attended St Patrick’s to present the children with their new high vis vests. She said, “Calum did a terrific job in the colouring competition and was a deserving winner. We are very pleased to be part of Road Safety Week and these high vis vests will help the children in St Patrick’s Primary School be seen as they make their way to and from school, particularly as these dark winter days set in.”
Road Safety Week is now in its 19th year and, this year, Specsavers stores across Northern Ireland have given nearly 4,000 high vis vests to local schools and club. For further information visit www.specsavers.co.uk
