The St Patricks Day Festival/ Lá Fhéile Pádraig is gearing up to be the best ever with many events happening this week in the lead up to the St Patricks Day Parade which takes place this year on Saturday the 16th of March.
Several Irish Language events are happening at the new Gaeláras as well as events at the Museum including an Arts and Crafts for families on Monday week.
An Interdenominational Ecumenical Service takes place at Newry Cathedral on Friday coming at 11am entitled "Celebrating the life of St Patrick"
Sean Hollywood Arts Centre has Music and Childrens entertainment on Saturday from 2pm and Newry Market is even getting in on the act with many stalls and the Belfast Samba Band performing.
The parade itself starts at 12 noon on the 16th from The Quays and takes a new route this year taking in Francis Street, Patrick Street and Monaghan Street. The Parade is themed "Celebrating International Myths and Legends" Some of the participitants include St John Bosco who are celebrating their 50th Year this year and St Catherines Band who are celebrating their 90th!
Street entertainment on Saturday includes music from Raglan,The Nooks, Cold Porter etc in Margaret Square and a Ceili in Marcus Square so certainly something for everyone.
