24 Miles, 13 Mountains, 3 Men, 1 day – Together Phil Sean and Gerard the Southern Area Hospice Maintenance Men have decided to take on the gruelling task of trekking the Mourne Wall on the first weekend of September to raise much needed funds for Hospice.
When we asked why they decided to test themselves to the limit they said, “It has truly been a humbling experience seeing the support and generosity from our local community over the past few months. Every day we see the challenges our patients and their families face, and we decided as a team we would take on our own personal challenge of trekking the Mourne wall in one day. Our 24 miles will represent the 24 hours our Hospice staff work everyday to ensure our patients and their families are cared for. We want to do this challenge to raise money four our Hospice and we want to dedicate our trek to all the patients and families who have been with us at Hospice.”
Each of these gentlemen have worked in the Southern Area Hospice for many years and worked continuously throughout lock down. No task is ever too much, they are always there to help 24 hours a day on call with whatever is needed.
