Write a commentTommy Breslin, one of the stars of BBC’s hit TV show ‘Keepin ‘Er Country’ is set to step into the limelight once again to continue his search for ‘Mrs. Right’ at ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services.
Following his search for love on ‘Keepin ‘Er Country’, a television programme which was shown as part of BBC’s True North series highlighting the increasing popularity of country music and jiving, Tommy is still single and on the lookout for a potential future wife.
Tommy will join a number of other single farmers who will take to the stage at ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ on Friday 25th September 2015 in Armagh City Hotel, supported by main sponsors, Tullyherron Farm Feeds and also by the Armagh City Hotel and the Ulster Farmers’ Union.
The eligible farmers will attempt to impress the audience with tales of their acres, livestock and farming credentials in a bid to win themselves a date with a potential future wife.
Many of the farmers will perform a talent as part of their interview – previous talents have included everything from cow milking demonstrations to singing and dancing and lots more besides. Tommy was the King of the dancefloors up and down the country in ‘Keepin ‘Er Country’ – no doubt he will treat the audience to a little jiving as part of his interview.
After the farmers have been interviewed the audience and the judging panel will vote for their favourite farmer to determine who the winner will be. The judging panel includes Lynette Fay of BBC Radio Ulster, Roberta Simmons, President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster, Farmer Joe, star of the recent comedy production of ‘Farmer Joe and His John Deere Tractor’ and Mr. John Jardine, local farmer and dedicated Southern Area Hospice volunteer.
Once the winner has been determined there will be a blind date style finale which will see the farmer matched up with his potential future wife. After the show there will be music by Johnny Brooks to end the night. A great night’s entertainment is guaranteed!
Speaking about his appearance on ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ Tommy said, “I am looking forward to taking part in the show. It is raising funds for a fantastic cause and I am only too happy to help.”
All the money raised at ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ will help Southern Area Hospice Services to continue their work in the local area caring for people who are living with Cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease. In order to continue to provide the level of care currently available, Southern Area Hospice Services must raise £2.38 million in 2015 alone. Events such as ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’ are vitally important as they work towards this figure.
