Maria Quinn from Hilltown is the June winner of the recycler of the month competition! Maria won £50 for using her blue bin correctly the competition is sponsored by the Department of the Environment’s (DOE’s) Rethink Waste campaign in partnership with Newry and Mourne District Council.
Maria was delighted to win the money she said, “We find recycling really easy, our blue bin is always overflowing because there are so many thing we can put into it. The children love helping out too and infact sometimes they have to keep me right! We try to recycle everything possible this includes bringing grass to the household recycling centre on the Rostrevor Road and donating old clothes to raise funds for the school.”
Tara Cunningham, Recycling Officer for Newry and Mourne said, “The range of materials recycled in the blue bin has now been expanded to include glass and tetra pak. We would like to remind householders that only hard plastic tubs and containers can be placed in your blue bin please don’t put plastic wrappers and film into your blue bin as these materials cannot be recycled.”
