Write a commentIrish music will accompany the rhythm of the rail for a key event at Iúr Cinn Fleadh, the Newry city music festival, in September which will give Dublin residents the opportunity to spend a day out in Newry with traditional music galore on the menu!
The ‘Trad Train’ run in conjunction with the Enterprise service offers to be a day out with a difference as Irish traditional musicians will entertain passengers on the Enterprise (Coach G) from Dublin Connolly to Newry on Saturday 8th September. You’ll enjoy not only the splendour of the Irish Sea coastline, but also the excitement of Irish sounds, as you travel across the engineering marvel of the Boyne viaduct.
Taking the tuneful train at 11:20 from Dublin, spend the rest of your day sampling the delights of Iúr Cinn Fleadh such as the Coffee Bar Crawl with Noctambule and friends, Sail down Newry Canal on the Brienne with music from Cara Quinn and Michael Coney, pop in to a session or two, take the Buttercrane International Buttermilk Drinking Challenge, walking tour of Newry and Picnic in the Park – among many other activities.
On your return trip – the 19:02 departure from Newry – you will have another trad session on the train. Book your ticket online at www.irishrail.ie or www.translink.co.uk or just buy on the day. There is a free bus to and from Newry train station from the city’s Buscentre. (You can choose to travel just one of the legs of the journey and depart/return at another time/ date or travel both)
