With Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann happening in Belfast from 2 - 9 August, Translink is reminding anyone travelling into the city to plan ahead, leave extra time for journeys and expect bus and train services to be very busy.
800,000+ people are expected to descend on the city. Currently the latest train available for booking from Belfast to Newry Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August is at 23:59 while Sunday 9 August is 23:30.
Fleadh visitors and anyone working or using other city centre services during the event are being encouraged to use public transport, dedicated Fleadh Park and Ride sites, walking or cycling where possible for travel into and around Belfast city centre.
Ulsterbus, Metro and Glider services will operate with enhanced capacity, along with some minor alterations to bus stop and pick-up points. NI Railways will operate a revised timetable with enhanced capacity, and additional late night bus and rail services will be in place. Special Fleadh day return bus services will also depart towns and cities throughout Northern Ireland and are available to book online.
The public is encouraged to visit www.translink.co.uk/fleadh and download the Translink JourneyPlanner app to keep up to date with key public transport information. Those wishing to pre-book Belfast City Council's Fleadh Park and Ride sites can do so at fleadhcheoil.ie/travel.
