Work has begun on tidying up the entrance to the Carlingford Lough Greenway at the Albert Basin in Newry.
Newry, Mourne and Down Council committed to the the work costing a quoted £8,350 following a request from the Albert Basin Park Task and Finish Group.

The entrance to the site previously consisted of thick high metal gates with barbed wire on top. Council staff have now removed these opening up the Albert Basin vista.
The greenway entrance will eventually become the entrance to the new 15 acre public park on the Albert Basin Site and the project's task and finish group have also agreed that campaigning group Newry 2020 will seek funding for a pop up park on the site in the interim.
