Well Summer is here at last and the long balmy hot days from last Sunday must certainly have contributed to the melting of last winters ice on our lakes and rivers ... or have they?
I'm not so sure as according to a Newry and Mourne Council notice up on a barrier at the Albert Basin we need to "Beware of Thin Ice"
On second thoughts though we did have a heck of a cold spell in December and January so there just might be some icebergs floating in the Basin and Canal waiting for an unsuspecting ship to run aground on them!
