Write a commentThe 65th Newry Drama Festival concluded at the weekend after nine nights of drama, with County Wexford’s, Bunclody/ Kilmyshall Drama Group winning the Premier Award for their production of Agnes of God. Their production also won the Audience, Best Actress and Most Promising Performer Awards. Runner up for the Premier Award was Prosperous Dramatic Society with their production of The Play about The Baby.
Gillian Fitzpatrick, Chairperson, Newry, Mourne and Down Council speaking on the final night said “I started my speech and drama career on this very stage, I tripped the light fantastic, and now I have children doing it. This is just a fantastic facility. I know as a council we are going to upgrade it, new facilities, new ideas coming in, it’s going to be amazing
“We have such talent in Newry Mourne and Down, we have the most amazing talent and really we should be looking for even more drama groups in our own district to come and perform and compete against Newpoint and the other teams we have here”
The Chairperson concluded by paying tribute to the Committee.
