Craft Courses for Adults at the Museum

Newry and Mourne Museum have devised a programme of craft classes for adults which will take place throughout the month of November. 

You will have a chance to come and learn a new skill or craft which will be suitable for absolute beginners.

On Saturday 2nd November from 10am to 4pm course tutor Naomi Whan will facilitate the class “Textile Printing for Beginners”.

You will have the chance to explore dyeing techniques, and be shown how your designs can be used to make beautiful cushions or wall hangings to suit various interior spaces in your home. This workshop is limited to 14 and costs £30pp.

While on Saturday 9th November from 10am - 5pm Newry native Céline Traynor will return home to take the workshop “Linked In” – Creative Jewellery”.

This workshop offer participants a chance to understand the thinking behind the design of specific pieces of jewellery. You will then be able to create your own piece inspired by your own likes and experiences, using a variety of materials. This workshop is limited to 12 and costs £30pp.

Then on Saturday 16th November from 10am to 5pm Clive Lyttle will host the “Basket-making Workshop”.

Using colourful willows the participants will construct a versatile basket suitable for use at the table or around the home during the festive season and beyond. All tools and materials are supplied. This workshop is limited to 8 and costs £40pp

Finally on Friday 22nd November from 10am to 4pm Geoff Tulip will deliver the “Woodcarving Workshop”.

This workshop provides an introduction to the traditional craft of woodcarving. During the day each person will learn some simple techniques and produce their own hand-carved relief carving to take home. All tools and materials are supplied. This workshop is limited to 10 and costs £30pp.
