Drama Festival 2013 - The Winners!

Saturday night saw the announcement of Newry Drama Festival Award Winners with most of the silverware making it's way to County Kildare and the Silken Thomas Players for their production of Philip Ridley's shocking modern drug charged offering Mercury Fur, which swept the drama circuit with an exceptional tally of eight wins out of eight festivals.

Adjudicator Geoffrey O'Keefe from Drogheda said it was the "Best Production I ever adjudicated"

The rest of the awards were shared out with Waterford's Ballyduff Drama Group for their production of Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa and local champions the Newpoint Players with their interpretation of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role: James Murphy, Silken Thomas Players as Naz in Mercury Fur

Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Patricia Henry, Silken Thomas Players as The Duchess in Mercury Fur

Best Young Actor: Nial Heaney, Newpoint Players was Alfred in Rosencrantz and Gulidenstern are Dead

Audience Award: Silken Thomas Players/ Mercury Fur

Best Stage Manager: Maria Flanagan, Silken Thomas Players/ Mercury Fur

Best Decor: Ballyduff Drama Group/ Dancing at Lughnasa

Best Lighting: Russell Kane, Sarah Smith, Tom McGeown and Paul McParland, Newpoint Players/ Rosencrantz and Gulidenstern are Dead
