Alastair Chambers

Alastair Chambers from Newry has been selected to star as Colonel Fitzwilliam in a new Eighties musical reimagining of the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice that premieres at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall in May.

Alastair is fairly new to treading the boards but after stepping onto the stage for the first time just four years ago, he  has since performed in nine productions, most recently Jesus Christ Superstar with Newry Youth Performing Arts Adults. In this time he has also achieved his Diploma in Musical Theatre and has been involved in production design and extra work on a number of local and national film projects, including The Unholylands.

Away from the stage, Alastair also co-runs the Newry School of Singing, helping young performers develop confidence and vocal skills through classes and one-to-one coaching. He is currently training with The Shelley Lowry School to further develop his acting.

A lover of musical theatre and the iconic sights and sounds of the 1980s, this show certainly combines all of his favourite things.

Pride and Prejudice... and 80’s Hits! premieres at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall from Thursday 7 - Saturday 9 May.

Classic literature meets classic pop as Elizabeth Bennet, Mr Darcy and a cast of incredible characters navigate the world of love, longing, class, pride and prejudice - all powered by the 80’s biggest and most beloved hits.

Set against the backdrop of Regency England, this high-energy production blends sharp wit, swooning romance and laugh-out-loud misunderstandings with a soundtrack packed full of chart-topping 80’s anthems. Expect big emotions, big hair and big beats that will have you tapping your feet, singing along and falling in love all over again.

At its heart, Pride and Prejudice... and 80’s Hits! remains true to Austen’s timeless story but this fresh reimagining adds a vibrant pop sensibility that amplifies every longing glance, social faux pas and dramatic declaration of love.

Romantic, witty and unapologetically fun, Pride and Prejudice... and 80’s Hits! is for devoted Austen fans, Eighties music lovers and everyone looking for a night of feel-good musical theatre irresistibly flavoured with passion and pure pop perfection!
