Join in an afternoon of choral magic with John Rutter

If you're a local singer here's your chance to sing under the direction of John Rutter, one of the world’s most beloved choral composers, in the amazing surroundings of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.

The event takes place on the afternoon of Saturday 18 April and forms part of Armagh's Charles Wood Centenary Festival. It offers singers of all backgrounds the chance to rehearse and perform under Rutter's direction, with no audition required.

Sir John Rutter said: "It's an enormous pleasure to be returning to the glorious setting of St Anne's Cathedral for another Singing Day. Anyone who loves choral singing is welcome, and the music will be a mixture of choral favourites old and new, some of my own music, and a few surprises. Hope to see you there!"

The Charles Wood Centenary Festival marks 100 years since the death of one of Ireland's most influential composers. Running throughout 2026 and culminating in a major Festival Week in August, the programme covers competition, education, performance and new commissions.

Richard Yarr, Chair of the Festival Board, said: "We are delighted to have Sir John Rutter as Patron of the Festival, and to welcome him over in April. The Charles Wood Centenary Festival is more than a commemoration; it is a living tribute to a composer whose music continues to shape singers, choirs, and communities worldwide."
