Newry Museum is hosting a five course tasting menu as part of the European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) initiative.
The open days will take place online between 4 – 10 September, with access to heritage buildings on the weekend of 9 – 10 September.
Newry and Mourne Museum is delighted to take part and will host tours of the Museum on 9 September, but with a difference. This year they have teamed up with Paul Cunningham, multi award winning chef and passionate food forager from the small, rural village of Dundrum in County Down.
The tours of Bagenal’s Castle and the galleries will finish off in the Banqueting Room where guests can then sample a five-course tasting menu devised by Paul, inspired by 16 century ingredients, which include venison, salmon and pork belly.
There will be two tours, the first will commence at 1pm and the second will start at 3pm. There is no cost, but booking is essential as numbers are limited.
For those visitors who wish to take a stroll through the galleries at their leisure, the Museum provides FREE audio guides, available in English, Irish, French and German, which provide more information on the Castle and the exhibitions. There is also an audio guide that children in the age range 7-12 can enjoy. This is available in Irish and English.
You can also visit the temporary exhibition ‘Newry Artists, Past and Present’, which celebrates the works of talented artists who hail from Newry or who have found inspiration in the local area.
