Rostrevor is set to host its first ever Book Fair this Saturday, 20 June, with book dealers travelling from all parts of Ireland to take part. The event, organised by Rostrevor Community Book Corner, runs from 10am to 4pm at 16 The Square.
Bibliophiles, collectors of fine books and general readers alike will find plenty to interest them, with stock ranging from first editions and local history to children's books, poetry, GAA collectibles and Irish language titles.
Among the dealers attending, Conor Howard from Clare is bringing a selection of signed first editions with a focus on northern poets. Tall Stories Books from Kilkenny will have a varied stock of history, classics and general titles, while Craobh Rua Rare Books from Armagh will offer collectable books of mainly local interest. Pat Woods will also have local interest postcards alongside stamps, coins and books.
Two author talks are scheduled during the day, with Paul Clerkin speaking at 11.30am and Maggie Doyle at 2.15pm.
Jane Kelly from Rostrevor Community Book Corner said: "Saturday (June 20th) promises to be an exciting day here in the village for our first ever Book Fair and we hope it will be hugely supported."
The idea for the fair came after Jane visited the Graiguenamanagh Town of Books festival in her old home town on the Kilkenny/Carlow border last August. That annual event transforms the town into a literary destination with thousands of books, author readings and workshops.
Saturday will certainly be a busy day for Rostrevor with the Book Fair taking place on the same day as the Kilbroney vintage car and vehicle show.
