The Third Tanglewood Music Festival proved an outstanding success, with every visitor without exception praising the weekend event and it's organisers for the wonderfully eclectic event that's now part of the local music calendar.
Camping proved very popular this year and the new layout of the stages also attracted universal praise. Thankfully to the relief of the hundreds of people camping barring one or two showers all weekend, the event basked in glorious sunshine especially Sunday.
Narrow Water Castle set on the shores of Carlingford Lough with the beautiful castle as a backdrop to the Main Stage simply has to be the best setting in Ireland for such an event.
Music as usual took in a wide genre from the soft Offaly tones of Mundy to the rock the foundations Gama Bomb and the ultra energetic instrumentals of the Belfast Group And So I Watch You From Afar, who certainly are on their way in the music world.
Highlights for Newry.ie were many but it would be wrong not to mention just a few and no doubt we have left some out.
Munday finished off proceedings on Sunday evening and Galway Girl was as sensational as expected but other tracks like July and the brilliant Mexico just kept giving.
Local band Cold Porter took the Spirit Store Stage by storm with their eight piece band and had the audience dancing like few others.
It would have been so easy just to stay in the Gramophone Tent with artists of the calibre of Gentry Morris and Kaz Hawkins being our favourites under the canvas.
Whether a fan or not It was completely impossible not to be impressed with ASIWYFA, with guitarists Rory Friers and Niall Kennedy, Johnny Adger on bass and Chris Wee on drums giving it all they had in an exhaustingly energetic set.
Pocket Billiards brought their brand of punk/ rock/reggae mix to headline the Spirit Store Stage on Saturday night with a ten piece band and they performed an unbelievable set to well after midnight.
Battle of the bands winners Tyranasonic Deaf Rays played a polished set to fans while Proudfoot chilled us out with soul.
All in all a magic two day festival which we have no doubt will be up there at the top of the Festival list in a few years time if it can weather financial constraints and is given a chance to flourish.
