Today 14 May is European Coworking Day and to celebrate the event The Hub in Newry held a communal lunch event at their Margaret Street premises last Thursday 8 May.
European Coworking day is a day to celebrate coworking and community, and their impact on individuals and society, through events organised by and taking place in coworking spaces all over Europe.
Users of the Coworking space mingled with visitors from the community for a veritable feast, with many bringing along their own foodie creations on the day and offering a perfect chance to catch up and network.
Suzanne Murdock, Co-Founder of The Hub and organiser of the event explained: "I'm part of the European Coworking Assembly, networking with different coworking operators throughout Europe. Each year there's one day where the whole of Europe celebrates its different coworking spaces with their members, partners, etc so it's one big celebration."
Murdock continued: We have different businesses, quite diverse businesses, freelancers, remote workers, local teams, and then we've quite a few of the community that have come today as well. I'm also on the board for local charities. It's basically welcoming everyone in and sharing stories and experiences."
Coworking is very much people led "I think when you've got different businesses coming together and different personalities with different strengths, I think they complement each other very very well." concluded Murdock.
