The former Park Hotel in Omeath together with 85 acres of land has gone on the market for €2,65m.

Once a popular location for weddings and social occasions, the hotel situated on the outskirts of Omeath, Co Louth on the R173 has been closed since late 2006. The hotel's elevated location lent itself to panoramic views over the stunning Carlingford Lough.

The site situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is close to the new Narrow Water bridge due to be completed in 2027/2028 which will make access from the Warrenpoint and Rostrevor area much quicker.

As well as the former hotel building the site has a farmyard complete with stables. Around 39 acres of the site are woodland, 9.5 acres grazing lands and 32 acres unfarmed, located in front of the hotel. The property is listed jointly by Best Property Services and Mallon Property.

The developers explain: "The original house was constructed by John Obins Woods in 1860. In 1946 the house was purchased by the Dobbin family who opened it as an unlicensed hotel.

"Additional bedrooms were added, and a license was granted in 1953. The former coach house was renovated and converted to use as family quarters. In 1960s the hotel was expanded to provide a new function room and resident’s lounge.

"In 1992 the hotel was purchased by Colman Rooney. He extended the existing function room on the west side of the hotel.
In 2003 the hotel was purchased by the current owner who ran the hotel for several years, prior to submitting an application for a larger hotel. In 2012 planning permission was granted for the demolition of the existing hotel and construction of a new 69 bedroom hotel with associated function room, restaurant, bar, staff accommodation, ancillary accommodation, solar panels, car parking and landscaping"

If you have a spare two or three million don't miss the closing date for offers, Thursday 26 June!
