The Hub, Newry hosted a Coffee & Cake celebration event yesterday to mark European Coworking Day. The Hub champions the coworking model locally with its flexible and remote office spaces for businesses.
European Coworking Day on 6 May is a day to celebrate coworking and community, and the impact it all has on individuals and society. Coworking spaces throughout Europe host events on the day.
Speaking at the event, The Hub Co-founder, Suzanne Murdock spoke of how coworking supports people, businesses and wider society. "I think what I love most about it is there's really no one right or wrong way to do it."

"I think days like these also shine a light on the fact that coworking isn't just the infrastructure, the bricks and mortar. It's much more about the softer side in our community. Building trust, encouragement and relationships is really what we started this space off to be, and having those people around you who genuinely get what you're doing, and encourage you along the way "
Murdock added "We have corporate members as well, but there's a lot of local teams here. It's really where the heart is, and it gives people the chance to stay local, without having to give things up working further afield, and build that meaningful work within real life capacity. When you've got family commitments, you might work part time, so you haven't got this scrambling around and losing your way and hopefully feel a bit more part of the community while we're doing it."

Nuala Saul from Brack Tours who are based at The Hub in Margaret Street appreciates the great flexibility the space offers. "We have five of us in today, some days there's two. We come and go, and we always know that no matter what staff were in at any day, the support is here at the end of the phone. Yes city centre, love it, well done Hub."
Kieran Swail from Southern Regional College said the Hub is all about connection and about having time, things that are really important. "I think what you're doing probably goes slightly under the radar. I just think it's fantastic." he added.
