The Irish students of St. Colman’s College Newry were successful in two recent Gael-Linn competitions.
First up were the boys taking part in ‘Abair’ the prestigious public speaking competition open to schools across Ulster. The boys took part in the Mid-Ulster heat at St Joseph’s Donaghmore and in a very well attended competition Oisín Magee was second overall in the GCSE section with Aidan Nutley second overall in the ‘A’ Level’ section. The boys are now looking forward to representing the college in the Ulster finals next month. Maith iad!
Not to be outdone St. Colman’s were also successful in the GCSE level Gael-Linn quiz held in Newry Leisure Centre. The boys answered questions on a variety of topics all through the medium of Irish. The winning team members are Patrick Kirk, Mark Mc Loughlin, Ryan Larkin and Chris McGuinness. Comhghairdeas libh!
