Write a commentPreparations are well underway for Southern Area Hospice Services’ upcoming fundraiser, ‘The Farmer Wants a Wife’. The event, which is being generously supported by main sponsor Tullyherron Farm Feeds and also by the Ulster Farmers’ Union, will see a number of eligible farmers take to the stage in the Armagh City Hotel on Saturday 22nd November 2014 in an entertaining contest which could see them win themselves a date with a potential future wife from the audience.
MC Malachi Cush will put the farmers through their paces, ensuring that they all have the chance to impress before the audience place their votes to determine who the winner is. During their interviews, the farmers will have the opportunity to perform a party-piece in an effort to showcase their talents to help secure themselves a few extra votes. Last year the party-pieces included everything from farmer-style Irish dancing displays to cow milking demonstrations on the most un-cooperative of cows. With this year’s event promising to be just as entertaining make sure to get your tickets and come along for a great night’s craic.
The audience vote will added to the scores of the star-studded judging panel which is made up of Lynette Fay of BBC Radio Ulster, Roberta Simmons, Deputy President of the Young Farmers Clubs’ of Ulster, John Jardine, full-time farmer and dedicated Southern Area Hospice Services volunteer and Farmer Joe, star of Armagh Tigers’ recent comedy production of ‘Farmer Joe & his John Deere Tractor’.
Anne Mac Oscar of Southern Area Hospice Services encouraged people to come along saying, “We are looking forward to another great night in the Armagh City Hotel on Saturday 22nd November 2014. I would like to thank the farmers who are taking part to help raise funds for their local Hospice. I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and show their support for the Farmers by voting for them. All funds raised will help Southern Area Hospice Services to continue our work in the local area caring for people who are living with Cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, HIV and Aids. We have a fundraising target of £2.3 million in 2014 alone and so every penny really does count as we work towards this”.
