Salary Range: £28,000+ per annum (commensurate with experience)
Reporting To: Laboratory Manager

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and practical Mechanical and Electrical Technician to support the operation of our advanced test laboratory.
Job Purpose/ Responsibilities:
You will play a vital hands-on role in supporting a range of mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing activities, ensuring our test systems are accurate, safe, and efficient. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Test Rig Operation:
Assemble, wire, and operate complex mechanical and electrical test rigs for thermal, vibration, and shock testing. - Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on specialist test equipment, ensuring performance and reliability. - Data Acquisition Support:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot instrumentation and sensors to gather accurate test data. - Documentation:
Accurately document test setups, procedures, and outcomes in line with quality standards. - Health and Safety Compliance:
Maintain a safe and controlled working environment through adherence to all safety procedures. - Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to deliver successful test campaigns. - Process Improvement:
Contribute ideas and feedback to support continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a test laboratory, R&D, or industrial engineering environment, preferable.
- Strong mechanical assembly and/or electrical wiring skills.
- Familiarity with environmental testing methods (vibration, thermal, shock), preferable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics, preferable.
- Desirable: Forklift licence, full UK driving licence, PLC knowledge.
