Armagh got off to the best possible start in their 2020 Division Two Allianz National Football League campaign to beat Cavan with new kid on the block, Clan Éireann's Conor Turbitt scoring an incredible goal and six points.

Conor who was making his first league appearance really was on fire, scoring his first point in the first minute of the game as well as a goal just a minute into the second half.

Armagh had a comprehensive win over Cavan with a 13 point lead at the final whistle.

A crowd of 4,466 turned out to the Athletic Grounds, Armagh for the first round clash. The game was preceeded with a minutes silence for Seamus Mallon who died on Friday.

Armagh led from start to finish with Cavan never looking hungry enough to stage a comeback. Only for a messy Cavan goal in the second half with four players ending up in the net along with the ball, the gap would have been even greater.

Stefan Campbell added another goal 30 minutes in thanks to a penalty to put his tally at 1:2. Three points each from Rory Grugan and Oisin O'Neill, two from Rian O'Neill and points from Niall Grimley and Aidan Forker all contributed to the final tally of 2:18 to Cavan's 1:8.

The Allianz National Football League continues next Saturday at 6pm with an away game to Portlaoise.
