Shields’ Family Memorial U10 Tournament
‘The weather wasn’t great but the football from all teams was excellent’ Aidan Shields. With the four clubs Bosco, Ballyholland, Rostrevor and Drumgath fielding Gaels and Ógs teams the tournament was based on a two league basis. After nearly two hours of football both Ballyholland Gaels and Ógs emerged victorious in both leagues.

Seniors lose ‘on the road’

The seniors lost for only the second time this season when they fell to a three point defeat on Friday night in St John's. This loss can only be described as 'a bad day at the office!' No area of the team can be exempt from criticism for this display. 14 wides kicked, 4 goal chances squandered, a penalty and points conceded easily and poor decision making on the ball all added up to a night to forget. The boys need to put this defeat behind them and move on quickly as they have a tough game this Friday night in Jack Mackin Park against Clann Na Banna with a 7.30 throw in and all support is welcome.
St John Bosco Clanrye Gaels
Formed last year and trained by Cormac Venney from then County Board and our own Mo Rooney and Maria Fox the Gaels is a team of adults with learning difficulties. They had their first big outing last Sunday in Breffini Park Cavan at half time in the Down v Donegal Championship Ulster semi-final.

U12 Girls snatch victory in the closing minutes
Bosco v Kilcoo Wednesday 26th June 2013
Played before a great crowd of parents from both teams, this was an excellent, competitive match between two very skillful teams. The Bosco suffered a blow in the opening minutes of the encounter when midfielder Aoibheann Quinn was carried off with a bad ankle injury. This resulted in Sarah Gorman moving to midfield to mark the Kilcoo captain and she proved to be Bosco’s best player with her excellent marking, tackling and blocking throughout the game.
The sides were level at half time with the Bosco girls failing to convert their dominance into scores. Early in the second half Nicole Cunningham and Nicola Downey added points from play to give Bosco a 2 point lead. However Kilcoo crafted a brilliant goal after a long kick out and with time running out the girls found themselves 1 point down.
Cool heads were needed and Kerry Lavery (1pt) and Nicola Downey (2pts) snatched a vital victory with league rivals Warrenpoint also winning against Burren.

Annual U12 Girls Tournament on 31st August 2013
The 5th annual Bosco U12 girls tournament will be held this year on Saturday 31st August at Jack Mackin Park. The event will consist on 8 teams playing for two trophies and as winners of the plate competition last year, the Bosco girls will be going all out to secure the coveted shield in 2013.
Several teams have already committed to our tournament in August and we will again use the Whitegates centre as a base to allow easy access to the pitch.

Club day At The Races
We are organising a joint Dundrum/St John Bosco Day at the Races in Downpatrick Sunday 11th August £40 per head which includes racecourse entry, food, free £5 bet, return bus fare and after race entertainment.
