Sunday 11th August Club day at the Races
With the Golf Classic now over the next big event in our calendar of events for the |Golden Jubilee Year is our Race Day at Downpatrick races on Sunday 11th August.
A joint event the St John Bosco/St John Bosco Day at the Races in Downpatrick Sunday 11th August £40 per head which includes racecourse entry, food, free £5 bet, return bus fare and after race entertainment.

Cúl Camp
This year’s Cúl Camp is being held 12th – 16th August is St Patrick’s Primary School. Cost is £35 per participant and booking can be made on line where you can avail of a £5 discount or forms are available from club mentors.
A Cúl Camp information and booking evening is being held in the club on Thursday 1st August at 8:00 p.m.
Golf Classic
An excellent event last Friday played in Mediterranean conditions and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Congratulations to Groover and the golf team for organising a real Classic. Photos and results will be forwarded later and will be in the August edition of our Newsletter.
Cumann Naomh Eoin Bosco Sports & Community Development Plan 2013 -2015
We are currently developing our 5 year sports & community development plan 2013 -2015 – this is our blueprint for future development, growth and success. As a community club everyone’s views and suggestions are being sought, if you would like to be part of this planning process please get in touch with Paul McCormack and feed into the plan. Draft copies of the plan will be available on a strictly club member only basis.
St John Bosco U12 Girls
U12 Girls display their talent at Ulster Blitz
The under 12 girls travelled to the excellent new Tyrone GAA facilities in Garvaghey near Ballygawley for the annual Ulster u12 blitz on Saturday and showed their undoubted talent with some excellent victories. This event is all about giving the girls an opportunity to play against teams from across Ulster, and although there is no trophy involved all the matches was very competitive.
The girls had great victories against Beragh Red Knights and Moy Tir Na nÓg (Tyrone), Monaghan Harps and Scotstown (Monaghan) and St Enda’s (Antrim).
The girls finished the day with a challenge match against Clan na Gael (Armagh) who are managed by Armagh All Ireland winner Diarmuid Marsden. The girls put in a great performance to beat the Armagh team by 4 points and round off an excellent day out.
Clan na Gael have now agreed to attend the Bosco Blitz tournament in August

St John Bosco U10s
The U10s are getting plenty of game time and are averaging 2 games a week now on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening.
Last Wednesday the Gaels and Ógs travelled out to John Martin Park in Glenn and both teams played great football in a great family atmosphere, a wonderful spectacle of underage football. Best for the Ógs were Padraig Caldwell in nets, Ronan Cinnamond in defence and Pól Óg McCormack in midfield. The Ógs were well served by Aaron Downey and Dessie McKevitt in attack Padraig Hurley in defence and Matthew Rice in midfield.
On Sunday 21st the teams travelled to St Moninna Park in Killeavy to meet two strong Killeavy teams comprised mainly of P6’s. The opposition proved very strong for both the Gaels and Ógs but both sets of players stuck to their tasks and displayed some excellent football against all the odds. A man of the match display from Ronan Cinnamond for the Gaels and Caomhan McDavitt for the Ógs were two great highlights of the day.
Next up for the U10s is a home game in St Patrick’s on Wednesday nights against Glenn and an away fixture nest Sunday against Drumgath.
Wednesday 18th September Golden Jubilee Table Quiz
With the excellent support from quiz master Aidan O’Rourke the club are organising a table quiz on Wednesday 18th September in the Canal Court Hotel. Get your teams organised and let’s ensure the night is a great success.
Team members not permitted include Joe Brolly, Laptops, I-Phones or other internet connected device.
