Bosco Under 14 Boys crowned Division 3 Champions
Resplendent in their new Fegan Motors NI jerseys St John Bosco under 14s secured the division three title with a home win over Saval on Monday last. This makes it two league titles in a row, so congratulations to all concerned, especially the players for their hard work and dedication to training.
The game itself was highly entertaining with both teams playing attacking football.
Bosco took the lead with points from Ronan Murphy, James Harkin and a goal from Kane Rossiter. It has to be said Bosco were on top in all sectors, but special praise goes to Shane Mc Clorey and Dean Morgan for their tireless work rate, turning defence into attack. Bosco lead at half time by 3-09 to 2-03.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Bosco piling on the scores. Rory Mc Parland was playing a captains role in the middle and Ryan Mc Aleavey was laying on quality ball to the forwards. Although Saval never gave up the gap was too large. Final score Bosco 13-12 Saval 6-06.
Full credit to the boys for their efforts all year. Next the 'B' championship at the end of July

St John Bosco vs St Peters Warrenpoint Saturday 22nd June 2013
Bosco U12 Girls lose thriller by a single point
This top of the table clash was always going to be a close match and so it proved as Warrenpoint held out for a single point victory. With several players missing, Bosco put in a great performance with Aine McCabe dominating at midfield and contributing a well taken goal. Nicole Downey and Aoibheann Quinn scored great points from play and Eden Casey and Aime O’Hanlon looked comfortable in defence. The game was decided by a number of goals conceded in the 2nd half after Bosco had stretched their lead to 4 points. Katie Grant was unlucky not to snatch victory when her goal bound shot was well saved by the Warrenpoint keeper. Bosco remain in a strong position with 2 games in hand over Warrenpoint and the league remains a two horse race.
FINAL SCORE WARRENPOINT 4: 03 BOSCO 2: 08

St John Bosco U10’s
St John Bosco vs Saval Wednesday19th June
The U10’s had their first mid week match of the season with tough encounters for both the Gales and Ógs against Saval.
The Ógs under Hugh and Gary played brilliant football with Rory McAleavy controlling midfield. Padgraig Hurlihey was excellent in nets and Johnny O’Hanlon led the forward line.
The Gaels without injured Matthew Monroe and Joshua Madigan and with Danial Preece also missing had to reshuffle their line up bringing in Matthew Rice and Callum to the line up. After 3 sessions of 20 minutes of football played in beautiful sunshine there was nothing between the two teams and both camps were well satisfied with their teams performances.
U10 Blitz Ballyholland Saturday 22nd June
The U10’s had a great day out in Ballyholland at the recent South Down P5/6 Go Games. The Gaels played extremely well with wins over Ballyholland, Burren and An Riocht and a draw with Saval.
The Ógs had two wins over Ballyholland and Tullylish a draw with Burren and were narrowly defeated by Longstone.
Down Goalkeeper Brendan McVeigh was at the blitz with the An Riocht team and took time out to talk to and be photographed with the Bosco youngsters. Offering a word of advice to Pádraig Caldwell the Bosco Gaels keeper Brendan said ‘stay in your nets, you were nearly up at the half way line in that last match!’ ‘Sound advice – hopefully Paudi will listen to it,’ Kevin Hughes was heard to say afterwards.
Next up for the U10’s is the annual Shields family memorial Tournament.
