Corrinshego win Armagh All County Under 16 league Cor Fhuinseoige 0-09 Middletown 2-02
Corrinshego produced their best football of this year’s league campaign in the U16 playoff final to overcome a gallant Middletown side last Saturday afternoon in Granemore to lift the league title for the second year in succession. There were great scenes of celebration from player’s management and supporters as the final whistle sounded. A great
entertaining game of football where both sides exhibited all the skills in a enthralling game that went down to the last kick of the game. Middletown settled very early with a point from a free, we replied with a point from Caolan Marron only to be rocked by a Middletown goal. Our lads replied immediately opening up the Middletown defence for Ryan Courtney to hit a point from play. We kept the pressure on as Jordan Mackey reduced the deficit to one after great approach work by Conor Loye but just as we got back into the game Middletown hit us with another goal after the ball hit the post and landed in our square to be bundled into the net. Both sides exchanged points to leave it 2-02 to 0-04 in Middletown’s favour at halftime.
On the restart our Midfield duo of Ryan Courtney and Conor Loye began to get the better of the exchanges winning primary possession to allow our forwards some great quality ball. The move of Lee Courtney to full forward was rewarded with a point and slowly we began to reduce the deficit, a point from Conor Loye left 2 between the sides. At this stage we were dominating the play and when Jordan Mackey hit his second on the day it left one between the sides. This got the opposition moving but great defensive play from Aaron Cinnamond kept the pressure on Middletown and with time almost up a great defensive block from Breandain McCorry turned the game as it allowed Conor Loye space to hit the equaliser. The referee signalled for 2 minutes injury time as both sides battled for midfield possession but once again Ryan Courtney was immense coming out with the ball linking up with Declan Loye who was in turn fouled and with time almost up Ryan Courtney clipped it over the bar to put us ahead for the first time in the contest and shortly afterwards the ref called time. An unbelievable finish to any game but to win the league title with the last kick of the game was something special. It was heartbreak for Middletown to lose it in such fashion but our lads were really up for it keeping the opposition scoreless in the second half to claim the title with the narrowest of margins.

half, scoring and setting up two scores, before he was replaced with ten minutes to go.
Well before the referee blew the whistle for full time with Corrinshego comfortably in front, it was pleasing to see the entire panel get on the field of play, culminating in a well taken point by substitute Karl Treanor.
This was another success for this bunch of boys who will look forward to even more success in the future with Corrinshego.
The final game of the season brought a second trophy for Corrinshego under 14s, an All County Shield, after last week’s league title.
The game was a physical one to begin with as the Phelim Brady U14s were a much bigger and taller team and this made for a poor first half of football, with Corrinshego kicking a total of 8 wides. Indeed it was a tight affair in the first half, until captain Declan Loye scored a vital goal just before the half time whistle to leave Thomas Davis ahead by those three points at the break.
The manner in which the team played football in the second half however was the main reason why Corrinshego were able to win this trophy. The defence stood firm under the high ball, with TJ
Corrinshego are holding a fun Pub Quiz in the Canal Court Hotel on Thursday 15 November 2012. This is a few weeks away so plenty of time to gather team members. Should be good fun on the night. There will also be a chance to win some great raffle prizes.
